In the first days of the superposition event Plenipotentiary Hiram Quillam emerged as a voice for rational and coordinated effort in a time of emergency. His authority and charm were initially productive, however Quillam became cast in tabloid media as an apologist for transgressions by intruders against local laws and customs as circumstances unfolded. Whether it was his intention to provide an acceptable face as a smokescreen for premeditated predation, or a na├»ve and tragically misplaced sense of duty, Quillam’s credibility did not survive the brutal personal attack on Colonel Gus Dempsey he delivered in his speech to the UM General Assembly.
